Compare modelsFrequently asked questions
How much space do I need when it's folded?
Folded footprint depends on the model. Compact desk models like the X208 fold to around 40" x 26" x 14", while larger running models like the X218 fold to around 43" x 33" x 12". Check each model's product page for its exact folded dimensions.
Can I store it standing up?
On select models, yes. See Choose by storage above for which models stand upright against a wall versus which lie flat under furniture — not every model supports both.
What's the difference between a walking pad and a treadmill?
A walking pad is a slimmer, foldable machine built mainly for walking at gentler speeds; a traditional treadmill is larger, usually non-folding, and built for running at higher speeds and inclines. Read the full comparison in Treadmill vs. Walking Pad: Choosing the Right Home Fitness Option.
Is it easy to move around the house?
Most models include transport wheels for moving between rooms. Net weight still varies a lot by model — from around 30kg for compact desk models up to roughly 55–65kg for the larger running models — so heavier models may take two people to carry upstairs or over a step.
Which model should I choose?
It depends on your space, budget, and routine — that's what the 7-question Find your model tool is for. Already have a shortlist? Use Compare to check specs side by side.

Why Choose WalkingPad
Foldable Treadmills Questions
1. How much should I spend on a home treadmill in the UK, and what does each price step actually buy?
1. How much should I spend on a home treadmill in the UK, and what does each price step actually buy?
Within the WalkingPad range, a budget of around £550–£700 gives you compact folding options for everyday exercise. The £549 MC11 offers a 1200 × 440 mm running area and speeds up to 12 km/h. At £629, the MX10 adds a foldable tray table for walking while working, while the £699 X21 offers a wider 1210 × 460 mm running area. Choose between these models based on how you plan to exercise and which features you will use.
Around £950–£1,100 gives you options such as the X25+ and X218, with larger running areas, maximum speeds of 16 km/h and 18 km/h respectively, and a maximum user weight of 136 kg. For a higher budget, the G5i adds motorised incline up to 18% for uphill walking and running, alongside a running deck that folds in half for convenient storage. Match your budget to your intended speed, stride length, user weight and preferred features, and compare folded dimensions to check the storage space you need.
2. Is a folding treadmill sturdy enough to run on, or do I need a fixed frame?
2. Is a folding treadmill sturdy enough to run on, or do I need a fixed frame?
Yes, a folding treadmill can be sturdy enough for running when the model is built for that purpose. You do not necessarily need a fixed frame. Look at the treadmill's overall construction, running area, maximum speed and user weight limit, and choose a model that suits your stride and intended workouts. Folding alone does not tell you how stable a treadmill will feel.
The WalkingPad X218 offers a 1400 × 510 mm running area and speeds up to 18 km/h, while the X25+ provides a 1320 × 500 mm running area and speeds up to 16 km/h. Both support a maximum user weight of 136 kg and combine running capability with a deck that folds in half for upright storage. Before each workout, fully unfold the treadmill and place it on a firm, level surface.
3. How much electricity does a treadmill use, and could it trip the power in a UK flat?
3. How much electricity does a treadmill use, and could it trip the power in a UK flat?
Electricity costs depend on the model, how you use it and your electricity tariff. To estimate the cost, multiply average power use in kilowatts by the workout duration in hours and your price per kWh. Whether a treadmill trips the power depends on the machine, the condition of your electrical installation and other appliances using the same circuit. Follow your model's power requirements and connect it directly to a suitable earthed wall socket. Avoid overloading sockets or sharing an extension lead with high-power appliances such as heaters or kettles. If using the treadmill causes the power to trip, stop using it, unplug it and contact our support team or a qualified electrician.
4. How do I keep a treadmill running well — does the belt need lubricating, and how often?
4. How do I keep a treadmill running well — does the belt need lubricating, and how often?
Regular cleaning and lubrication help keep your treadmill running smoothly. As a general guide, lubricate every three to six months, depending on how often you use the treadmill. More frequent use may require shorter intervals. Follow your model's manual for the recommended schedule, lubricant and amount. Use suitable silicone treadmill oil rather than household oils or petroleum-based lubricants. Always switch off and unplug the machine before applying lubricant, and follow the instructions for distributing it evenly.
Wipe away sweat and dust after use, and regularly clean around and underneath the treadmill with the power disconnected. If the belt slips, moves off-centre or makes an unusual noise, stop using the machine and check your model's troubleshooting instructions. Belt alignment and tension require different adjustments, so follow your model's instructions when adjusting the belt. If you are unsure, contact our support team with your model name and a short video of the problem.
5. Is a treadmill actually effective for losing weight, or is that marketing?
5. Is a treadmill actually effective for losing weight, or is that marketing?
Yes, a treadmill can support weight loss by helping you burn calories and increase your overall activity. Results depend on your eating habits and total energy expenditure over time, rather than the machine alone. Treadmill workouts do not specifically target belly fat, and calorie burn varies with your body weight, speed, incline and workout duration.
A home treadmill can make it easier to fit movement into your routine, whether through short walking sessions or regular running workouts. On models with adjustable incline, such as the WalkingPad G5i, raising the gradient can increase energy expenditure at the same walking speed. Choose a model that suits your fitness level and preferred activities, and build a routine you can maintain alongside healthy eating.
6. Are treadmill speeds shown in mph or km/h, and what do the numbers mean in practice?
6. Are treadmill speeds shown in mph or km/h, and what do the numbers mean in practice?
WalkingPad treadmill speeds are shown in kilometres per hour (km/h). Kilometres per hour (km/h) tells you how fast the belt moves. For example, walking at 5 km/h for one hour covers 5 kilometres. As a rough guide, 1–3 km/h is a slow walking pace, while 4–6 km/h may feel like a steady or brisk walk, depending on your stride and fitness level. At 6–8 km/h, some people walk quickly while others begin to jog. For running, 10 km/h corresponds to 6 minutes per kilometre, and 12 km/h to 5 minutes per kilometre.
For under-desk use, choose a low speed that allows you to work comfortably and maintain your balance. Only jog or run on a model intended for that purpose, and consider the running area and your stride as well as maximum speed. Start slowly and increase the speed gradually to suit your activity and comfort.
